The Institute of Home Science, University of Kashmir, successfully convened a full-day Board of Studies (BoS) meeting on 15th April 2026, dedicated to the framing and finalization of the syllabus for the 5-Year Integrated Master’s Programme in Home Science.
The meeting marked a significant step towards academic advancement and curriculum modernization, aligning the programme with the evolving educational landscape and the principles of the National Education Policy (NEP).
A highlight of the event was the esteemed visit of Hon’ble Vice Chancellor, Prof. Nilofer Khan, who emphasized the importance of designing a future-ready curriculum. She particularly underscored the integration of Artificial Intelligence and advanced technological applications within the syllabus to equip students with relevant skills for emerging global challenges.
The session was further enriched by the valuable insights of Prof. F. A. Masoodi, Former Dean Academic Affairs and senior faculty member of the Institute, along with other distinguished faculty from the University. Their collective expertise contributed significantly to the academic deliberations.
Adding national perspective and expertise, resource persons from Lady Irwin College, New Delhi — Prof. Aparna Khanna and Prof. Lalita Verma — actively participated in the discussions. Their inputs played a crucial role in strengthening the curriculum framework and ensuring alignment with national standards and best practices.
The meeting concluded with a comprehensive and forward-looking syllabus framework, reflecting a commitment to academic excellence, interdisciplinary learning, and innovation in Home Science education.
