National Seminar was organized by Institute of Home Science in collaboration with National Commission for Women (NCW) on 11th October 2022. Two-days (11th to 12th October 2022) National seminar on the theme, “Rights of Differently-Abled Women”, was held to deliberate on emerging issues and challenges confronting the differently-abled women and help formulate a roadmap to address the same.
Vice-Chancellor University of Kashmir Prof Nilofer Khan inaugurated the seminar. In her presidential address, Prof Nilofer appreciated the role of NCW in working to realize the goal of securing the rights of differently-abled women at their workplaces and beyond. Highlighting the importance of inter-institutional collaborations to help remove barriers in the way of progression of differently-abled women. Coordinator Institute of Home Sciences Dr Humaira Azim delivered the welcome address and highlighted the expected outcomes of the two-day event. Dr Aparna Khanna from Lady Irwin College, Delhi University, was the special resource person for the seminar. Dr Muzamil Jan, Sr. Assistant Professor of Institute of Home science was Convener and Dr Abdul Basit Naik was Co-Convener of the seminar.
Inaugural was followed by technical sessions on various topics related to differently abled women. More than hundred students, research scholars from different universities, Legal Services authority, Department of Education, NGO representatives, advocates participated in the Seminar. Participants presented their research papers on different themes. Eight Technical secession were held during the two days Seminar.
