On 26th November 2025, the students of 3rd Semester (Batch 2024), Extension and Communication, Institute of Home Science, University of Kashmir, conducted a field visit to Pampore to gain first-hand exposure to agricultural extension systems and services.

During the visit, students met with various extension functionaries from the Department of Agriculture, who provided valuable insights into:

• The structure and functioning of agricultural extension services

• Farmer support programmes and field-level advisory mechanisms

• Community engagement strategies used to disseminate scientific agricultural practices

• Challenges faced in technology transfer and rural outreach

The interaction enhanced the students’ understanding of the role of extension personnel in bridging the gap between research institutions and farming communities. This experiential learning opportunity deepened their awareness of real-world extension processes and strengthened their professional competencies in communication, outreach, and rural development.
